So far this week I have missed my workout on Monday, nearly skipped it yesterday, and my motivation is severely waining. On top of all this I got some "tough love" from my tri-guru. Thank goodness! I need something to once again kick me in the pants. Here's to getting back on the bandwagon, I must get better about getting through these next couple months. |

Not Enough Sleep |

This past week has kind of been a shambles, and I have to admit that I was perilously close to falling off the good habits wagon. I had been doing really well making my workouts, eating healthier, and generally feeling a lot better over the past couple of weeks. That kind of came to a screeching halt on Sunday, however. You see, I went home this weekend and had planned on riding 90 with a big roadie, it was going to be a long day with a guy who would really push my pace a little bit. I was a little nervous and a little excited. The night before, however, I ate a HUGE meal that was not really in line with the vegetable-heavy meals I've been eating lately, so I was a bit sluggish. Nevertheless, off we were at 7 a.m. for our ride. Did I mention that it was the most depressing color of grey outside, with a steadily soaking rainfall? No? Well it was; but we were off nonetheless to meet some other roadies for our ride. About 45 minutes into the ride we got to our meeting place and were waiting for our friends when there was a HUGE crack of thunder. At that point we turned around and began the ride home. About three minutes later we heard two other cracks that were very, very close. At that point we got off and called home. Upon arrival back home, when I should have hit the trainer, I hit the showers then the sheets. Because of that, I have very little to recover from this week, so I'm not going to do a recovery week this week. Hooray, another week of building! |

Badger miles |

So, in the interest of filling out more of the slots on workoutlog, from here on out I am instituting the Badger Miles dictum. I heard about this training idea from a runner friend of mine who said that at the University of Wisconsin they base many of their track workouts on the concept of doing miles at a certain pace, and that's how they log their distances. Having been at training for a couple months now I have a pretty good idea of my training pace, even if I am really pretty disappointed at it. So from here on out I am estimating the distance of my workouts based on a training pace of 10:00/miles running, and 15 mph on the bike. We'll see how that goes. |

who knew? |

so, it's monday again and i'm actually feeling like the recovery week worked its little charm. who knew? it was great, i'm still feeling a little tired, but nothing like last monday. i guess i should wait until i actually do one of today's workouts before i write this triumphant little tome, but i'm feeling good now, so we'll have to wait until next week's installment. otherwise, the week was nice. it's really great only having to schedule a 90 minute ride, as opposed to five or six hours. it really opens up a weekend. and i took full advantage of that opening to head down to cville again, which was fun. did my run there, attended a very well catered 2nd birthday party, and enjoyed life. drank too much coffee, had some sticky buns, and waited to go for my run in the afternoon. |
