Bored here at work I decided to poke around the site, read about some other people, and check up on my training. I had fun looking at the other people on the site, reading their thoughts (if they had any), and looking at their logs. So the venture started off well, so I then went to my training log to see how I am doing. That's where the good part ends. I am supposed to be doing IM Lake Placid in six weeks. SIX WEEKS!! And let me tell you (the nebulous, cyber "you" of course; which means nobody really), my training log for this year is pretty freaking pathetic given my goals. I started off terribly in January, got alright in February, March was still 'alright,' April was about what the whole year should looking like, May went from OK back to 'alright,' and June just sucks. No wonder I've been stuggling so much lately on my workouts. I'm all of the sudden very nervous about what race day is going to look like. As usual, I'm trying to make up for lost time when it's very nearly, if not already, too late. |

I just reviewed my last entry, and it seems so ambitious and on-task. I was really kicking a** for a couple weeks. The problem is that lately I've had to deal with the end of school stuff, along with coaching a swim team in the afternoons for the past two weeks, so my weekday workout time is virtually non-existent. I know, "wake up early and get out there!" one might say. Well, I've tried with mild success, but I'm so exhausted from waking up at 5:30 on normal days, that the prospect of an even earlier wakeup call is daunting, to say the least. Now I know that 140.6 miles is also daunting, but for whatever reason it doesn't always prove enough to get me out of bed at 4. My fault entirely. Which has led to some lackluster weeks of training, and, consequently, my feeling lackluster during those workouts. This weekend marks the end of these crazy weeks, so I plan on getting back on the train and knocking out these last couple big volume weeks in preparation for taper and race day. |
