So, school is back in full swing, and I recently had to purchase a new car, which is nowhere near as easy nor as fun as I was expecting.  As a result, now, for really the first time in my life, I have all the motivation and desire I need to go out there and get back in the swing of things, to only thing that's missing is time.  I've been swamped with things to do lately, and I can't get out to get in a decent workout.  The good thing, however, is that I'm retaining some of my Ironman fitness and I'm not just a horrible, gluttonous, slothful wreck like I was last September.  Hooray for small victories.

Perhaps it's for the best (in my case at least) that the Patriot's was cancelled this past weekend.  I mean, it's certainly not the best for my pocketbook, the 50% credit is kind of a ripoff, but I was not excited about the lack of preparation I was suffering from, and the lack of motivation was even worse.  But the upside is that I have once again located my motivation.

It turns out that all I needed was the off-season and the opportunity to diversify my workout routine and work on some much needed muscular fitness.  Although I'm missing today's workout due to a tight schedule, I've been the last two days and I've reached what I believe is a sustainable plan of attack for the rest of the winter.  I'm also progressing on my physical therapy for knee problems, so hopefully I can get running again and really amp up the good vibes.  Let's hope this one sticks.

I got very excited after the ironman, and I was all ready to train and use that aerobic fitness to work hard and turn that into speed for some shorter races... and then my knee hurt.  Then I realized how much easier life is when you don't have to go out and do workouts, and then my will power sagged, and then I was really lazy for a period of about three weeks.  When I had six to train for the Patriot's half that is this upcoming Saturday.  Yikes.

So now I'm going to yet another race simply planning on finishing, even though I have plenty of aerobic fitness to do so, but I can't try to go faster because I've been very lazy and squandered my fitness for this race.  Blech.
