Hurley Double Sprint

Beware the duck pond! The water in this swim was very nasty. For that reason, I doubt that I'll do this race again next year.

This was my second triathlon in six days. Normally I wouldn't race again so soon, so this was something of an experiment. I finished right in the middle of my age group, which is where I usually finish. (The guy who finished first in my age group had the fastest time of anyone in the race.)

I spent almost the entire bike split playing leap frog with a woman who passed me on the climbs, which she climbed in her biggest gear! Then I would pass her on the downhills and stayed ahead of her until we started climbing again. I got to the transition area ahead of her, but then she started the run ahead of me and left me in the dust. She ended up finishing first in her age group.

Triangle Triathlon

Gonna keep this one really short and sweet:  I raced the Triangle Triathlon yesterday and beat my time from last year by 25 seconds. My swim split was one minute slower, my bike split was about 2 minutes faster, and my run split was about 35 seconds slower than last year. If it weren't for the Zipp 1080 front wheel and Hed 3 disk provided by my "wheel sponsor" (Andy Prokopetz), my finish time probably would have been slower than last year.
