I am back!
It's been 2 years since my last tri. I had to pull out of training for the 2010 race due to severe pains in my chest. I had trouble speaking let alone breathing. Steroids were the next step as a diagnosis for adult on-set asthma was written down on a prescription pad and handed to me. The real truth - I had been pushing my body too long and too hard and my body was telling me in no uncertain terms to stop. I am a mind/body practitioner and Nia (www.nianow.com) higher education trainer so I listened to my body with the support of my family, friends and colleagues I learned to slow down. My journey back to health was relatively quick but I had to learn new health habits that included a minimum of 7 hours of sleep, no more than 40-50 hours of work per week, lots of water, more play time, meditation and of course tons of hugs. Yesterday I ran for the first time and it was great. The heartzones method is helping me pace myself. I am training at a different heart rate than I was 2 years ago but that's okay. I can feel my body and it's loving it.
I'm back - better than ever.
Hugs, Caroline
